Trustee hides comments criticising his decision to ignore Kurdish

Cizre Municipality which has been imposed a trustee, hid the comments posted by people on the municipality social media after its decision to not include Kurdish in the signs marking historical sites as they were overwhelmingly against it.

District Governor Sinan Davutoğlu was appointed trustee to Cizre Municipality, in the province of Şırnak by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on 29 October 2019. He decided to put only Turkish and English on the signs promoting historical and touristic places in various points of the city.

The comments posted on the social media account of the municipality were clearly against the decision. So much so that the trustee decided to hide them.

The comments reminded the trustee that "there is no Kurdish which is spoken by 99 percent of the people but there are English and Turkish".
