Abdullah Öge, who lost his life in an armed attack in Bingöl while driving HDP election vehicle back to his house after transporting people to a rally of the party, was laid to rest following a ceremony attended by thousands of people.

Abdullah Öge, who lost his life in an armed attack in Bingöl while driving HDP election vehicle back to his house after transporting people to a rally of the party, was laid to rest yesterday afternoon following a ceremony attended by thousands of people.

Speaking at the ceremony, HDP Bingöl deputy İdris Baluken said the murder was associated with the speech of Turkish president Erdoğan in the city where he held an offensive discourse against the HDP and targeted the party with his words. Baluken said “The execution is nothing other than putting the B and C plans of Erdoğan into practice in Bingöl”, adding that the attack was a well organised one.

Abdullah Öge's body was taken to Karlıova district of Bingöl yesterday following the procedures at Erzurum Forensic Institute, which found over 30 bullet holes in his body. To the accompaniment of thousands of people, the body of Abdullah Öge was then taken to Karahamza village where he was buried. A km-long convoy which followed the ambulance in which his coffin was placed was welcomed by the people of all the villages on route, who all chanted the same slogan “Martyrs are immortal”.

At the entrance of the Öge’s village, the coffin was taken out of the ambulance and carried by the people on their shoulders, while the picture of Öge and the flags of the KCK and the PKK were hanged on the coffin.

The march to the cemetery was also attended by HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş who was in the region for the rally in Erzurum. Öge’s coffin was first taken to the mosque in the village for the religious ceremony and then taken to his house for the last duty, where his wife and 6 children broke down in tears.

The crowd comprised of thousands of people marched to the cemetery from Öğe's house, chanting the slogan “Martyrs are immortal”, which was followed by one minute’s silence accompanied by the antem "Çerxa şoreşe" at the cemetery.

In the meantime, 21 times fire was opened into air by the guerrillas from the foothills of the mountain across the cemetery. Abdullah Öge was later laid to rest in the company of slogans and tears of thousands.

Following the burial, HDP Bingöl deputy İdris Baluken made a speech at the cemetery, saying that the Turkish president attacked and pointed the HDP as a target in his speeches, while the party worked for peace and democracy in the country.

Baluken drew attention to the hostile policies of the AKP on Kurdish people ranging from Sinjar to Kobane, and recalled all the attacks on the HDP and the attempts at provocation, primarily the one in Tendürek district of Ağrı and the bomb attacks in Mersin and Adana, since the start of the election campaign. He stressed that all those attacks demonstrated the real face of the AKP and Erdoğan.

Baluken said the execution of Abdullah Öge in Bingöl had been planned one week before the incident as counter groups had been deployed to Çewlik and Kanireş by the AKP government for this execution one week ago. Recalling the assassination of head of the police and 4 Kurdish people in Çewlik, Baluken added that the most recent murder was also perpetrated by the same counter-guerrilla unit which carried out the assassinations.

Baluken said the AKP government is in attempt of forming a main body of counter forces in Bingöl to put its war plans into action, and added that the speech of Erdoğan in Bingöl was to trigger the attack carried on Hüseyin Öge.

Baluken asked 3 questions to the Turkish president Erdoğan in his speech:

“Do you know where the assailants came from, or not? Do you know that the perpetrators of the attack took the guns from the gendarme unit in Kanireş yesterday at between 11:00-12:00, or not? Do you know that there are records of security cameras all across Kanireş showing the vehicle which was used by the assailants to flee away from the scene, or not?”

Baluken lastly said the HDP will not allow the AKP to impose its war plans on the people and called on all the people of North Kurdistan and Turkey to be utmost attentive and sensitive against the provocations 3 days ahead of the elections.
