After the heavy defeats they experienced at the hands of YPG/YPJ fighters, ISIS gangs are holding the people of Sirîn as hostage in order to use them as human shields.

A confidential source living in Sirîn told ANHA News Agency that ISIS gangs had increased its pressures on civilians, who have been taken as hostages for months now, after the YPG/YPJ besieged Sirîn and disconnected the road between Raqqa and Sirîn.

Gangs have been making announcements in Sirîn that nobody could leave the town, and planting mines on the roads around the town in order to prevent civilians’ escape. Gangs have also been training children as suicide bombers and preparing grown-ups to be used as human shields.
