The detention wave launched by police forces early this morning in Hakkari continues.

Police raided many houses this morning, including the houses of Hakkari co-mayors and DBP and HDP executives, however could not find anybody in the houses. Police forces then carried out other raids and detained 2 persons who are working in Binevş Women’s Centre and DBP.

It has been reported that police forces held a two pages long list of the names of people about whom there is an arrest warrant.

In the meantime, special operations units attempted to enter the street where the DBP building is located with armoured vehicles, but had to retreat as the HDP Hakkari deputies Nihat Akdoğan and the DBP and HDP executives prevented them from doing so.

Speaking at the scene, Akdoğan said “We are faced with a fascist rule. No one can impose cruelty on the people for the political interests of one person. The negotiations must restart immediately.”
