It is reported that clash broke out between HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrillas and Turkish soldiers taking part in an operation of the army in the rural areas of Hakkari's Şemdinli district.

As the Turkish army is recently increasing its operations against guerrillas in Kurdistan, it has been learned that Turkish troops also carried out an operation in the rural area of Anadağ (Berox) village, close to the Yeşilova (Navberojan) village evacuated in 90's, in Şemdinli district today.

It is reported that soldiers participating the operation from Derecik (Rubarok), Navberojan, Bıgıjnı, Çeman, Samanlı (Mavan) posts have also carried out mortar attacks on the area.

While HGP guerrillas are reported to have opened a warning fire during the operation, mutual fire continued for hours. Intense military deployment to the region is also reported, both from air and ground.

According to reports, villagers who asked the soldiers "Why are you conducting an operation in the peace process?" were answered by a lieutenant that; "There is no peace, we will be fighting from now on".

Villagers stated that Turkish soldiers were in search of guerrillas everywhere around and seeking a clash, voicing their concern that; "We are afraid we will be caught between two fires and have to leave our villages if it continues like this."

The state of military vigilance in the region is reported to be continuing after the operation while large numbers of Turkish troops have reportedly been deployed at the border line.
