HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office said in a written statement that a clash took place between HPG guerrillas and Turkish soldiers participating in a military operation in Adıyaman province on July 20. One specialist sergeant was killed and two soldiers were wounded in the clash, HPG said.
According to the statement, the expansive air-supported operation was launched in the rural area of Kömür town in Adıyaman province two days ago, and clash erupted upon the encounter of guerrillas and soldiers.
HPG added that the operation is continuing, having expanded between the towns of Kömür(Komir) and Kuyucak, while an intense reconnaissance flights of UAVs also continue increasingly in the area.
Recalling yesterday's statement reporting that guerrillas carried out a warning action against the heavy construction equipment delivered from Bespin thermal power plant to Pîrê Ezmana area in Silopi district of Şırnak in the afternoon, the statement said a fire that started as a result of the bombardment carried out by the Turkish army after the action, is still continuing.
HPG added that the Turkish army's operation in Herbol area of Silopi was retreated without any results in the evening hours yesterday.
The statement also noted that a counter-guerrilla group in guerrilla uniforms have been threatening and putting pressure on the local people in the village of Şewata in Genç district of Bingöl since July 19. HPG called for public awareness regarding this counter team and its activities.
