One policeman killed, four others injured in Cizre

n Cizre district of Şırnak, police staged crackdown on demonstrators who protested the police terror in Silopi district where three people were killed and many others were wounded by Turkish security forces yesterday.

In Cizre district of Şırnak, hundreds of demonstrators rallied to protest the police terror in Silopi district where three people were killed and many others were wounded by Turkish security forces yesterday.

The demonstrators were hindered by police forces as they wanted to march from Cizre to Silopi where snipers were positioned on high buildings and security forces destroyed some houses with tanks and armored vehicles, while also setting some 10 houses on fire and not allowing fire-fighting teams to intervene. The local people that run to the help of their neighbors were also targeted by snipers with real bullets.

The demonstrators in Cizre were also attacked by police as they protested the bloody attacks by police in Silopi. To the crackdown with tear gas and rubber bullets, and real bullets at some points, demonstrators responded with fireworks and molotov cocktails.

As clashes spread across the district, a rocket attack targeted an armored vehicle on Yafes Street, leaving one policeman dead and four others injured.

As police blockaded the Cizre State Hospital where the casualties were taken to, youths built up barricades on all the streets and defended themselves against the brutal crackdown.

In the meantime, the governor's office and garrison command in the district were also targeted by armed attacks.
