‘Öcalan’s freedom is the guarantee for peace in the region'

Freedom for Öcalan Initiative member Dr. Qulpi criticized the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and called on everyone to participate in their campaign for Öcalan’s freedom and participation in active politics.

Dr. Qulpi criticized Neçirvan and Mesrur Barzani’s descriptions of the PKK as a foreign and guest power that should leave South Kurdistan, and added that such statements serve the interests of colonists that exploit Kurdistan.

'CONSPIRACY HAS FAILED'

Dr. Qulpi stated that the unlawful and anti-democratic imprisonment of Öcalan since 1999 aimed to destroy Kurdish people’s hopes for independence, and the struggle of Kurdish people and their allies brought the failure of the conspiracy targeting Öcalan. Dr. Qulpi added that they launched the campaign for Öcalan’s freedom and active participation in politics.

'STRUGGLE FOR ÖCALAN'S FREEDOM MUST CONTINUE UNINTERRUPTED'

Dr. Qulpi stated that different peoples have struggled for Öcalan’s freedom and participated in actions ranging from rallies and petitions to hunger strikes. Dr. Qulpi emphasized that Öcalan’s freedom was the only guarantee for peace in the region, and invited everyone to continue their struggle for Öcalan’s freedom until powers in the region respond positively to peoples’ demands.

'NOBODY CAN IGNORE ÖCALAN'S SYSTEM OF HUMANITY’

Dr. Qulpi stated that the Rojava system of autonomous cantons enabled the democratic and peaceful coexistence of women, men, young people and people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds, and the pro-Apo philosophy was the only force that could resist ISIS in the Middle East. Dr. Qulpi said that nobody could ignore Öcalan’s revolutionary system of humanity from now on.

Dr. Qulpi stated that they launched the Freedom for Öcalan Initiative in South Kurdistan on July 8, and aimed to collect 20 million signatures with the participation of representatives from KNK, Hewler peoples’ representatives, PUK and Goran Movement.

'KDP STATEMENTS SERVE COLONISTS’

Dr. Qulpi criticized the KDP statements that target the PKK, and said that such statements aimed to weaken the PKK and served the interests of colonists. Dr. Qulpi said that KDP should have formed friendly relations with the PKK and HDP as opposed to the AKP government, and criticized KDP for its psychological attack on the PKK after the elections in North Kurdistan.

'PKK IS NOT MERELY AN ORGANIZATION'

Dr. Qulpi stated that peoples of South Kurdistan were unhappy at KDP policies and young people were leaving the region for this reason. Dr. Qulpi emphasized that PKK was not merely an organization and offered a different ideology for not only Kurdish but also all peoples in the region. Dr. Qulpi stated that PKK received significant support from the peoples of South Kurdistan and struggled together with peshmergas against ISIS gangs and other enemies of Kurdistan. Dr. Qulpi criticized Neçirvan and Mesrur Barzani’s descriptions of the PKK as a foreign and guest power that should leave South Kurdistan, and ended his statement by inviting KDP to abandon statements that serve the interests of colonists that exploit Kurdistan.
