New hearing of trial against Kurdish politicians

The trial against hundreds of Kurdish politicians and activists restart today in Diyarbakýr. The city will witness both the arrival of delegations of observers as well as a march organized to support the Kurdish politicians on trial and to ask for their release.

The Democratic Society Party (DTP) and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) as well as many political parties, NGOs, trade unions, intellectuals, writers and journalists across Turkey and around the world will be in Diyarbakýr to attend the new hearing of this historic trial. Historic sadly because it put on trial local administrators, politicians, activists democratically elected and chosen by the people.

The march is organized by DTK to voice the demand for the implementation of the so called ‘Democratic Autonomy’ and to support the 153 Kurdish politicians on trial. The march is scheduled to end in front of Diyarbakýr Court House.

Among the many people who will act as observers at the trials are: BDP Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaþ and Gültan Kýþanak; DTK Co-Chairs Aysel Tuðluk and Ahmet Türk; European Congress, lawyer Gülizar Tuncer, orade unions and confederations’ chairs like DÝSK, Genel-Ýþ, Petrol-Ýþ, Tüm-Bel Sen, Eðitim Sen, SES, NTV Chief Editor Mete Çubukçu; Socialist-Feminist Collective Representative Hülya Osmanoðlu; Chamber’s Leaders like architecture, medical doctors, writers and academician Sibel Özbudun Demirer; singer Þanar Yurdatapan; Artists Mustafa Öztaþkýn, many political parties like CHP, DSÝP, EDP; human right foundation THÝV, Peace Assembly representatives and representatives from foreign parties, religious association, European Union Parliamenters and representatives, ambassadors, writers like Joseph Ryan, Nasser Butt, Omar Moore, Sanja Karakaþ, Andrej Hunko, Soren Sondergaard, Eugene Schoulgin, Murat Kanatlý, Ann Margarethe Livh, Naile Aras, Antonello Pabis.
