Nedim Seven said that a new phase has begun following the 12th Congress.
Nedim Seven, one of the delegates who participated in the 12th Extraordinary Congress of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), explained that it was held in line with the perspectives of President Öcalan, despite the harsh conditions of the Imralı system. He noted that all comrades remained firmly committed to President Öcalan’s directives with great will and determination, and that they are resolved to continue on this path as cadres of the Apoist tradition.
Paying tribute to all those who lost their lives in the Freedom Struggle, especially leading cadres Ali Haydar Kaytan and Rıza Altun, who were officially declared martyrs, Seven reaffirmed his commitment and emphasized that they are passing through a historic period.
Nedim Seven described the congress as a historical turning point. He said: "This is not merely an end but the transmission of a revolutionary legacy into a new social and political phase."
Seven noted that throughout its 52-year struggle, the PKK must be seen not only as an organization but as a vehicle for societal transformation. He said: "To consider the PKK solely as a party would be incomplete. The revolutionary values it created, its freedom-oriented dynamics, and the women-led struggle have produced a legacy that will shape the future for centuries."
Seven highlighted the significance of the women’s freedom movement, stating: "The PKK has developed a line of struggle, led by Kurdish women, against all forms of slavery. This movement has had an impact not only in Kurdistan but across the entire world."
He also addressed the debates surrounding armed struggle, pointing out that armed resistance was not at the core of the Apoist paradigm but was a necessity dictated by historical conditions. He said: "We were faced with the nation-state model, fascism, and the structure of capitalist modernity. Under those circumstances, armed resistance became a necessity. But now, we are entering a new era."
Nedim Seven noted that the congress also featured deep discussions of criticism and self-criticism. He said: "Questions such as why this transformation was delayed and why change was so difficult were addressed with honesty and openness. The past was thoroughly evaluated, and responsibilities for the new phase were clearly defined."
He emphasized that the coming period will be shaped by the cadres who are now tasked with carrying the PKK’s revolutionary legacy forward through a renewed democratic and socialist perspective.
