The increasingly ongoing military operations by the Turkish army in Kurdistan in recent days, which are being carried out despite the non-conflict environment going on for over 2 years as part of the resolution process, are causing concerns among the people of the region.
Speaking to ANF about the increasing military activity, HDP Şırnak deputy Faysal Sarıyıldız reported that 2 thousand soldiers have been deployed at the border line in Uludere (Qileban) district of Şırnak for the operation that started yesterday. Sarıyıldız warned the government over the operations, saying that the re-beginning of the conflict will put both sides under a big burden.
Sarıyıldız recalled that the Presidency of General Staff started provocations and operations in North Kurdistan in line with the negative attitude displayed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following the historic joint declaration made in Dolmabahçe Palace on 28 February.
Recalling the most recent provocation in Ağrı, which was intervened and failed by the local people, Sarıyıldız noted that Turkish troops had also attempted to harass the guerrilla emplacements in Oramar, Mazıdağı and Roboski regions before the Ağrı operation.
Sarıyıldız also recalled that Turkish soldiers 3 days ago opened fire on civilians in the border village of Mergeh where 3 civilians were left wounded.
Sarıyıldız pointed out that all these attacks were provocative and dangerous, adding; “The AKP government which attached importance to the non-conflict environment for the continuation of its ruling has manifested foolhardiness within the last one month, so much so that it even considered sending the dead bodies of soldiers from different cities in Turkey to their families in order to provoke national feelings in the pre-election atmosphere.”
Warning that the mentioned attempts dragged everyone, the government and the ruling in the first place, into a dangerous process, Sarıyıldız urged the government to stop this dangerous and pragmatist attitude and to withdraw thousands of soldiers from the border line back to military posts.
He added that they conveyed all these concerns and demands of theirs to the governor of Şırnak 2 days ago.
