Thousands bid farewell to YPG fighters Hüseyin Gökalp, Mahsum Seçen and YPJ fighter Fatma Dalmış in a mass ceremony in Cizre district of Şırnak today afternoon. Speaking at the ceremonies, the families of the fallen fighters said “We offer condolences to Leader Apo and the whole Kurdish people”.
YPG fighter Hüseyin Gökalp (Rüstem Cudi) and YPJ fighter Fatma Dalmış (Mezra Botan), who lost their lives in clashes with ISIS gangs in the villages of Siluk district of Girê Sipî on July 6, were laid to rest in Cizre district of Şırnak, while another YPG fighter Mahsum Seçen (Zerdeşt Avesta), who lost his life on 3 July, was laid to rest in Hoser (Düzova) village of Cizre. The bodies of the YPG/YPJ fighters were brought to Habur border gate yesterday and were handed over to families following autopsy procedures.
The YPG/YPJ fighters were received by over ten thousand people in Cizre where shopkeepers also shut down the shutters to join the funeral. The coffins of YPG fighter Gökalp and the YPJ fighter Dalmış were then taken to the Cizre Asri Cemetery on the shoulders of the people.
Speaking at the ceremony here, MEYADER Cizre branch executive Şerafettin Elçi vowed to pursue the struggle of the martyrs, while YPG fighter Gökalp’s father Salih Gökalp offered condolences to the Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan and to all the people of Kurdistan.
The grandmother of YPJ fighter Dalmış, Hediye Dalmış, said she had brought up Fatma whom she laid to rest today after an honorable struggle she had waged. The grandmother also offered condolences to all Kurdish people saying that the Kurdish people will never give up their struggle. Following the speeches, the YPG and the YPJ fighters were laid to rest.
After the mass funeral in Cizre, the body of the YPG fighter Mahsum Seçen (Zerdeşt Avesta) was taken to Hoser (Düzova) village of Cizre where he was received by thousands of people who accompanied the coffin to the cemetery by chanting slogans “Martyrs are immortal”, “Long Live Leader Apo”. The YPG fighter was then laid to rest.
