Leyla Guven: Our path is trying, but we will prevail

Leyla Guven said: “However trying this path is, we will prevail. They wanted to fracture the resistance by releasing me. We will continue to live with dignity.”

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Leyla Guven is on day 85 of her hunger strike against the isolation in Imrali. HDP MPs launched a vigil in the DTK office, which Leyla Guven attended through video conference.

“THE PATH IS TRYING BUT WE WILL PREVAIL”

Guven said: “You are the ones fighting the fight, shouting the emperor has no clothes under fascism conditions. Your struggle and your efforts come directly from the people, and directly touch their hearts. I don’t know exactly how long it has been since the elections, but I offer each and every one of you my wishes for success. However trying this path may be, we will prevail.” When Adana MP Tulay Hatimogullari told Guven she looked beautiful, Guven said: “There is a beauty and morale that comes from resistance.”

“ONE SPARK CAN TAKE DOWN MANY THINGS”

Hatimogullari said: “One spark can take down many things. We value this resistance a lot. The resistance you started and your demand are righteous. We want you to know that thousands of your sisters are trying to spread your resistance, braving any price to pay, under fascism conditions. We salute your resistance and we love you so much.”

HDP MP Ridvan Turan said: “Your flag raised against the powers of evil and the isolation policies can be seen everywhere. Those who fight will certainly prevail. The spark you started means so much to us. I believe you are fulfilling a revolutionary duty.”

“THEY RESIST DESPITE TYRANNY IN PRISONS”

Leyla Guven concluded her words with:

“Your presence and vigil means a lot. We have tried to stand shoulder to shoulder for years, to come together. Now we are. This is an attitude Mr. Ocalan values deeply. The idea of the HDP and the HDK are a great gift to our people. A fully democratic Turkey and a free Kurdistan are possible. This has been a first step, almost 300 friends started this with hunger strikes in prisons.

We are truly facing prison practices that go further than the September 12 period. Hunger strikers in Elazig, Patnos and other prisons are placed in solitary confinement. They are not given anything but salt and sugar, but despite everything they have completed 45 days. The state wanted to fracture the resistance by releasing me. We are on this path, the rest will continue to live with dignity. I salute all and send my love.”
