KONGRA GEL harshly criticized the massacre in Suruç and pointed at Turkish President Erdoğan and ISIS as the perpetrators of the attack. HDP stated that the most urgent task for civilians was to organize their self-defense, and called upon everyone to struggle for ending the AKP’s concept of war.

In its written statement on the massacre in Suruç targeting members of SGDF (Federation of Socialist Youth Associations), KONGRA GEL condemned the massacre that claimed that lives of socialist young people who were defending humanity and going to Suruç for Kobanê’s reconstruction. KONGRA GEL offered condolences to the families of the massacred youth, and wished speedy a recovery to all injured civilians.

'ERDOĞAN AND ISIS ARE THE PERPETRATORS'

KONGRA GEL stated that they knew well the perpetrators of the massacre and the powers that support them, and the truth was obvious to everyone with a clear conscience and mind. KONGRA GEL said that peoples would never forget this truth and bring the perpetrators of this massacre to justice. KONGRA GEL identified Turkish President Erdoğan and the AKP government as the perpetrator of the war against Rojava and the people of North Kurdistan, and added that the pre-election attacks aiming to intimidate civilians have transformed into revenge massacres after the June 7 election.

KONGRA GEL emphasized that the people who massacred young people aiming to rebuild Kobanê were also the people who showed enmity to the defenders of Kobanê, and recalled Erdoğan’s statements about the imminent defeat of Kobanê. KONGRA GEL described Erdoğan’s condemnation of Suruç massacre as hypocrisy, and said that Erdoğan and the AKP government could no longer deceive peoples. KONGRA GEL highlighted Erdoğan’s and the AKP government’s war policies targeting peoples that demand peace, democracy, and freedom, and pointed out that the lies on the ‘continuation of the solution process’ were aiming to deceive and stall the public.

'SELF-DEFENSE IS THE MOST URGENT NEED'

KONGRA GEL identified the effective mobilization and self-defense of civilians as the most urgent need for the peace, democracy and freedom front in its resistance against Erdoğan’s and AKP’s concept of war. Pointing out that AKP acted as if the elections never prevented the party from forming a government, KONGRA GEL stated AKP’s concept of war could only be stopped by the democracy and freedom front’s effective struggle led by peoples.

'PEOPLES’ ANGER SHOULD BE ORGANIZED'

KONGRA GEL emphasized the need to strengthen peoples’ objection to Suruç massacre in Kurdistan, Turkey and abroad, and ended its statement by saying that peoples’ anger should be organized in order to bring Erdoğan and the AKP government to account for the massacre of young people in Suruç.
