KONGRA-GEL calls for further resistance to break the isolation

KONGRA-GEL Co-presidency Council issued a statement on the “fascist Turkish state regime's airstrikes on Maxmur refugee camp and Shengal”.

As a result of the heavy bombardments, recalled the statement, four civilians from a same family in Maxmur and three civilians in Shengal lost their life.

The statement condemned the Turkish state that carried out these attacks with hatred, and expressed condolences to the families and relatives of the people who lost their life.

Condemning the silence of the UN

Reminding that the Turkish state had previously attacked the Maxmur refugee Camp, KONGRA-GEL statement said: “The Maxmur refugee Camp is under UN auspices, but the UN remained silent about these attacks. The fact that the UN remains silent encourages the Turkish state to continue with the attacks. In this sense, the UN is an accomplice of these attacks. We condemn the silence of the UN and call on the people of the camp to reclaim to the UN its responsibility.”

The statement also condemned the silence of the government of South Kurdistan.

“The Turkish state has entered the territory of South Kurdistan and massacred the people, but the government of South Kurdistan behaved as if nothing had happened. This is a shameful situation for a government that is unable to protect its own land and to ensure the safety of its people. The Kurdish people will never forget those who serve these policies of the Turkish state, the worst enemy of the Kurdish people. We condemn the government of South Kurdistan, which remains silent in the face of massacres and attacks against the people of Kurdistan. We call upon the people of Kurdistan to fulfill their duties and responsibilities.”

The KONGRA-GEL statement continued: “No Kurdish party, civil society organization and person should be an accomplice of the Kurdish genocide policies carried out by the Turkish state under the name of nationalism and religious enmity. It is certain that those who do this will be condemned in the conscience and history of the Kurdish people.”

All of the colonial states that dominate Kurdistan, added the statement, “are against what the Kurdish people have achieved. However, the anti-Kurdish hostility of the fascist Turkish state transcends all boundaries and targets all these achievements reached by the Kurdish people living in other parts of Kurdistan and abroad. The Turkish state, which wants to destroy all the material and spiritual values of the Kurdish people, continues its attacks against these achievements in the North and East Syria Assembly.”

We commend the hunger strikes

The statement also reminded of the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader, Abdullah Öcalan, and saluted the resistance carried out by HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven, who has been on hunger strike for 39 days.

“There is no precedent of the unlimited enmity of the Turkish state against the Kurdish people. As long as this fascist state regime remains, it will continue with its policy of war.

Against this state fascism, which wages a total destruction war against the existence of Kurds and Kurdistan in the Middle East, unity of all the patriotic political forces of Kurdistan and all the democratic forces is needed against fascism.

The only thing we have to do is to accelerate the economic collapse by constantly raising the resistance. The economic crisis [in Turkey] caused by the war grows, and will be deepening social and political crisis in Turkey.”

The statement ended by calling on people to “embrace those on hunger strikes in prisons and outside” and to “step up the resistance to break the isolation in Imrali, ensure the collapse of fascism in Turkey, gain freedom in Kurdistan”.
