KNK delegation meets with KDP on national unity

A delegation of Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) continued diplomatic talks in Southern Kurdistan for establishing national unity.

Three days ago the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) held a press conference in Sulaymaniyah and called upon all social dynamics and political parties to reinitiate efforts for Kurdish national unity due to the fragile process the whole region is going through. Thereafter the KNK started a tour of talks with the political parties in Southern Kurdistan and met already with three major parties.

KNK delegation also met with representatives of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) yesterday. The delegation included KNK deputy chairperson Kemal Tahirzade, KNK Council members Kamûran Berwarî, Perwîn Ezîz and KNK member Ferhat Dostkî. The KNK delegation was received by KDP Politburo member Elî Hisên and KDP Foreign Affairs officials Nîzar Botanî and Çîmen Teqyedîn.

Following the talk, which was closed to media, KDP Politburo member Elî Hisên made a statement and said they found the meeting important, adding: "We are delighted to have the KNK delegation with us. We think that this will contribute to a Kurdish national conference. We exchanged our opinions in that respect. We will evaluate within our party what we have discussed here today. We have no discord with the KNK, but we still need to talk about some technical issues of cooperation."

The KNK delegation met with PUK, Gorran and Komala officials the day before.
