Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) held a press conference in Sulaymaniyah calling upon all social dynamics and political parties to reinitiate efforts for Kurdish national unity.

The press conference was attended by KNK deputy chairperson Kemal Tahirzade, KNK Council members Faruk Cemil, Kamuran Berwari and Perwîn Ezîz, KNK members Seyit Ekrem, Dr. Yusif Hesen Kerkukî, Zekerya Halepçe, Ferhat Dostki and Müjde Ebas.

Speaking here, KNK deputy chairperson Kemal Tahirzade said they aimed to call on all social segments and political parties to discuss national unity and draw a joint roadmap to this end.

Speaking after, KNK Council member Perwîn Ezîz stated that the Middle East and Kurdistan is being through a fragile process, saying the following: “In this fragile process, we as Kurdistan National Congress remind all political parties that they are facing with a historic responsibility that indeed stands before all of us. All the peoples, faith groups, sects and religions in Kurdistan are in need of a national unity today. This constitutes a national duty in order for the Kurdish people to not experience a repetition of an unfortunate history and in order for Kurdistan to not be left all in ruins.”

Calling on the political parties and social segments to gather at a joint platform in order for a reinitiation of discussions on Kurdish national unity, Ezîz continued: “All constituents should put forward their ideas in order to determine a common strategy on the Kurd and Kurdistan issue. We should thus determine a national strategy and build our future. Through the dialogue to be developed here, Kurds will also have the opportunity to obviate hostility and animosity towards each other and remove the grounds that create such situations.

We as KNK see the presence of a solid conjuncture and ground for national congress. Kurds have the means and conditions to attain a common strategy and roadmap in the Middle East more than ever.”

KNK will reportedly start a tour of talks with the political parties in Southern Kurdistan from tomorrow on.
