Keskin Bayindir: Elections in Kurdistan Region an opportunity to stop betrayal

Commenting on the elections to be held in Southern Kurdistan on 20 October, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır said that the people would revolt against betrayal.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayindir spoke to ANF about the invasion attacks of the Turkish state and KDP's betrayal in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Keskin Bayındır stated that the Turkish state wanted to abolish the status of Bashur (Southern Kurdistan) and this was done for a strategic purpose. Bayındır remarked that the KDP, in cooperation with the Turkish state, created a vein of betrayal against the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom. He continued: “This vein of betrayal wants to dominate and suppress the struggle of the Kurdish people through different methods. It wants to suppress the Kurdish Freedom Struggle in the four parts of Kurdistan in cooperation with the Turkish state. Dirty attacks and dark cooperation continue in Bashur already. It wants to maintain its sovereignty not only in Bashur, but also in Rojhilat and North Kurdistan through war.”

Pointing out that the Turkish state used banned chemical weapons and committed crimes against humanity in its war against the Kurdish people, Bayındır said: “The world is pursuing a hypocritical policy on this war. Today, the Turkish state is killing Kurdish women and young people in Bashur with air strikes and assassinations. From Rojava to Shengal, Kurdish people live on target of assassinations and air strikes. Do we know who is authorising these attacks? How are these attacks expanding to Bashur? We need to name it and show it to the public; it is the KDP organisation. KDP associates its existence and gains over the defeat of the Freedom Movement and wants to benefit from it. For this, it is engaged in great cooperation with the Turkish state. They have established military, trade and intelligence relations. These relations are aimed at eliminating the status of the Kurdish people.”

Highlighting the importance of Kurdish National Unity, Bayındır said, “Today the Kurdish people need national unity. Outside the KDP and this collaboration line, we need to establish our unity. This unity must stand against the KDP's line of betrayal. The Kurdish people need to fight against this line of betrayal and occupation. Everywhere in Bakur, from Silopi to the border, all the people are determined and react against this betrayal and war. But the responsibility and burden for this lies on the shoulders of our people in Bashur. There will be elections in Bashur Kurdistan. Today there are two paths in front of our people in Bashur. Either they will take internal action against the line of betrayal. Or this line of betrayal, which reaches up to the Turkish state, must be destroyed on the basis of democratisation. This election is an opportunity for the people of Bashur to free themselves from this line of betrayal.”
