KDP digging a ditch on Shengal-Rojava border

Rojnews News Agency reported that the KDP of South Kurdistan has started digging a trench on the border between Shengal and Rojava, West Kurdistan, five days ago.

Rojnews News Agency reported that the KDP of South Kurdistan has started digging a trench on the border between Shengal and Rojava, West Kurdistan, five days ago.

According to the report which is based on a peshmerga commander asking to be mentioned as anonymous, the KDP started digging the trench on a 37-kilometers line starting from the Sinunê district of Shengal to the village of Barê.

The peshmerga commander speaking to Rojnews said that the ditch was 2 meters deep and 3 meters long, and would be dug along 37 kilometers on the border.

The peshmerga commander stated that KDP Politburo member Zaem Ali was responsible for the digging of the ditch.

The borderline where the ditch is being dug remains under the control of YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) of Rojava for the past 3 months since when there has been no activity of the ISIS gangs in the mentioned border area.

In 2014 also, KDP dug a 40-km long ditch between the Rojava and South Kurdistan borderline.
