KCK issues message of condolence for 4 workers from Maxmur

KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency issued a message of condolence for 4 workers who died as a result of an accident on their way from the Maxmur refugee camp to Baghdad on January 17.

The Executive Council Co-Presidency of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) issued a message of condolence for 4 workers from Maxmur Refugee Camp who lost their lives in a traffic accident last week: Deniz Xelîl Deniz, Mehmud Sîso Tahir, Hogir Musa Yusuf and Jîhat Mihemed Hecî Mihê.

Offering their condolences to the families of workers and all the people of the Maxmur camp, KCK said the following:

"The people of Maxmur migrated from Botan to Southern Kurdistan (Bashur) after the genocidal fascist Turkish state destroyed their villages. They did so because they regard Southern Kurdistan as their homeland. They thought that they would live in these artificially demarcated borders without any difficulties. For this reason, they took the way to Bashur, taking the risks together with the elderly, children and women. However, they faced oppression and persecution they had never seen for 27 years. Their camps were raided and they were killed, faced sieges and embargoes, so they moved from one camp to another. Finally, they settled in the Maxmur camp under the control of Iraq. While they thought that their problems would decrease with the establishment of the Southern Kurdistan Federation in 2003, they constantly faced severe pressure and troubles. KDP has been keeping the camp under siege and embargo for two years, especially during the period when the Turkish state is trying to disperse the camp through constant aerial attacks. These attacks and sieges seek to disband the Maxmur camp.

Although the entire Kurdish public wants the embargo to be lifted, the embargo continues due to the request of the Turkish state. The workers eventually had to go to work in more distant areas due to the siege. The death of 4 workers occurred in such an environment. The people of Maxmur, the people of Botan, the heart of Kurdistan, experience all this oppression and cruelty because they protect their identity and dignity. Despite all the pressure, the people of Maxmur did not compromise their honorable stance and resisted submission. With their strong patriotism and democratic attitude, they have always claimed the memories and longings of their martyrs.

All 4 workers lost their lives in a struggle to protect their dignity. Neither the people of Maxmur, nor the people of Kurdistan, nor our Freedom Movement will forget these workers who lost their lives. They will adopt their dignified stance everywhere. This honorable stance will definitely liberate all of Kurdistan and the Kurdish people. Kurdistan will become the exemplary homeland of free and democratic life. The people of Maxmur will be the unforgettable people of this freedom struggle with their attitudes and martyrs.

Leader Apo wanted all the Kurdish people to be sensitive to Maxmur due to their efforts, martyrs and the difficulties they suffered. He has always attached great importance to the honorable stance of the Maxmur people. Our Freedom Movement, on the basis of deserving this stance of the people of Maxmur, will continue its struggle to realize the aspirations of these people and their martyrs until they create Free Kurdistan.

Those who lost their lives in working conditions and detention while countering the challenges presented by the embargo, will take their place in the history of Free Kurdistan as proletarians of the freedom struggle."
