KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency has released a statement calling upon the people in the areas of self-rule, Gever in the first place, to remain in streets and continue the resistance to the attacks of occupying forces with tanks and artillery fires without paying attention to the curfews.
Stressing that the Kurdish people used their most fundamental right to self-rule, KCK said no force had the right to attack this democratic resistance and will of the people.
Pointing to AKP ruling's strict objection and attack to the practices of the Kurdish people outside its control, KCK said this attitude meant the state considered itself to have authority for any kind of crime and even starting a war when necessary.
According to KCK, the attacks of Turkish forces targets the people that manifested a democratic against the very self of this authoritarian, arbitrary and fascist ruling, as has been the case in Varto, Silvan and Gever.
Recalling the attack on the people of Gever going on since last night, leaving at least three people dead and dozens of others wounded, KCK said the ongoing attacks revealed that the AKP government would continue criminalizing and attacking the self-rule of the Kurdish people.
'AKP WANTS TO MAINTAIN ITS RULING BY ESCALATING THE WAR'
Pointing out that this most recent attack on Gever came on the same day when formation of a new election government was announced, KCK said it was understood that this government to be formed would either lead or contribute to the continuation of this war and attacks.
According to KCK, the recent deployment of troops from Bolu and Kayseri Commando Brigade in North Kurdistan also reveals what sort of a policy and repression this election government will pursue in the coming period.
"Now that no fair and equal election can possibly be held in the present conflict environment, AKP is forming a basis to maintain its ruling by escalating the war. This is what is meant and manifested by the AKP government's attacks against the Kurdish people after they upset its plans in June 7 election. It has become clear that the policy pursued by AKP aims to keep its ruling going rather than holding a fair election."
KCK also called attention to pro-AKP media's efforts to create a perception that HDP receives votes from North Kurdistan by force of arms, and said this also laid bare what will be done in this region in the coming days.
The Executive Council Co-Presidency of KCK predicted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who held rallies during the former pre-election period by violating all the laws, would this time not only organize rallies but also deploy police and military forces all around the Kurdish territory and hold an election to definitively end up with his dictatorial ruling, just like what is done in other single-party states. KCK said Erdoğan would also resort to any kind of unflinching acts, which would mean an escalation of the war.
'STRUGGLE FOR DEMOCRACY SHOULD BE ENHANCED'
KCK underlined that it was a duty of all democracy forces to wage a struggle and enhance it against the AKP ruling that continued its attacks on the self-rule of the Kurdish people. The statement also stressed that; "In the face of the brutal attacks on the local people in Gever and other areas where self-rule has been declared, all democratic forces must stand by the people of Kurdistan and their struggle for democracy."
'AKP RULING ATTACKS PEOPLE WITH TANKS AND ARMS'
Describing the resistance of Kurdish people as a democracy struggle of civilian peoples and their will for self-rule, KCK recalled that the AKP government launched these attacks with an aim to intimidate the people that used their most legitimate right to announce and practice self-rule.
"The Kurdish people mean neither to divide Turkey, nor to wage a war against police and military forces. It is the AKP government itself that attacks people with tanks, heavy weapons and artillery fires", KCK underlined.
KCK stated that standing by the Kurdish people and ensuring the ending of attacks was the major agenda and responsibility of the peoples at the moment, noting that giving priority to other issues would mean avoiding the actual agenda and problem.
KCK called on the Kurdish people in the areas of self-rule, Gever in the first place, to remain in streets and continue the resistance to the attacks of occupying forces with tanks and artillery fires without paying attention to the curfew.
"The democratic resistance and self-rule will of our people will definitively triumph while the fascist, authoritarian and hegemonic colonialism will lose", KCK added.
