Hunger striker Mehmud warns of “death fast” following threats

Herem Mehmud, who has been on an indefinite non-alternating hunger strike for 19 days protesting the isolation imposed upon Kurdish Peoples’ Leader Abdullah Ocalan, protested the Asayish forces’ pressure.

Engineer Herem Mehmud has been on an indefinite non-alternating hunger strike for 19 days in the Kelar district. Mehmud has lost 6 kg but isn’t experiencing any severe symptoms yet.

“I have some pain in my eyes and feet occasionally, but that’s it. My will is strong, I will continue my protest,” said Mehmud and added that the Asayish forces have been threatening him over the phone.

Mehmud said the Asayish told him it “will end badly (for you)” if he didn’t go to the Asayish HQ.

“Threats can’t stop my protest. I will raise my struggle. If the pressure continues, I will turn my protest into a death fast.”

Mehmud thanked his supporters and said, “Never lose hope in the struggle. All our hope is for victory.”
