HPG Press Office has released a statement about the blast that occurred in Dürümlü hamlet in Sarıkamış village of Amed's Sur district earlier this week.

According to the HPG statement, a guerrilla assigned with the duty of transporting an explosive-laden truck from one point to another was on move in Dürümlü hamlet in Sarıkamış village of Amed's Sur district on May 12 when some local collaborative elements tried to obstruct him.

"The guerrilla announced his ID and wanted to move on after telling the group to stop trying to hinder him, but the collaborative elements coming from the surrounding villages started to follow the truck and opened fire on it. The gunfire hit the fuses in the truck and consequently led to the blast of the explosives, as a result of which all those near the truck lost their lives."

HPG underlined that the explosives laden on the truck were meant not to be detonated but to be transferred to another location, adding; "This desperate incident occurred as a result of the bullets hitting the explosives. We offer our condolences to the families of all those who have died, yet we want it to be known by the public opinion that the responsibility is not ours but of those who fired bullets on the truck."
