HPG statement on military activity by KDP forces

HPG said guerrillas fired warning fire into the air as KDP forces moved into a campground belonging to guerrillas in the Metina region.

The Press Office of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement on the latest developments from the guerrilla-controlled Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The statement includes the following:

“KDP forces entered a campground belonging to our forces in Metina region. Our forces opened fire into the air with guns with the intent of warning these KDP forces. One of the armored vehicles did not take notice of the warning and advanced further. It couldn’t be established by our side how this vehicle was struck and damaged. It couldn’t be determined whether the cause is a landmine explosion or an aerial attack.”
