HPG reports uninterrupted Turkish attacks on guerrilla areas
HPG announced that the invading Turkish army continued its bombardments against the mountains of Kurdistan uninterrupted. Guerrilla areas were bombed 712 times from the air and land.
The Turkish army continues its massive bombardment of the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
According to a statement released by the People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Center, the Medya Defense Zones have been bombed hundreds of times since Thursday.
The HPG Press Center said, “We greet with love and respect our patriotic people who filled the squares and celebrated Newroz with great enthusiasm, demanding the physical freedom of Rêber Apo [Leader Abdullah Öcalan]. We state that we will continue our struggle more resolutely with the strength and morale we receive from our people. While the rulers of the Turkish state argued that they were celebrating Newroz as a festival of brotherhood and spring, the invading Turkish army continued its bombardments against the mountains of Kurdistan during the Newroz. These attacks did not cause any harm to our guerrilla forces who took all precautions effectively. The occupying Turkish state, which claims to celebrate spring, has destroyed the beautiful nature by carrying out bombardments 712 times from the air and land.”
HPG shared the details of the attacks carried out by the occupying Turkish army against guerrilla forces as follows:
Attacks by warplanes
On March 20, 21 and 22, Turkish warplanes carried out a total of 14 strikes, targeting the areas of Lolan and Goşînê in Xakurkê region twice; the areas of Dêreşê and Siyanê in Garê region 5 times; Bêşîlî area in Metîna region 3 times, Girê Bahar area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 4 times.
Heavy weapons, artillery and howitzer attacks:
On March 20 and 21, a total of 698 attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers were carried out by the Turkish army, targeting the areas of Sinînê, Lolan, Berê Zînê in Xakurkê region 85 times; the areas of Dêreşê, Girgaşê, Sipîndarê, Mijê, Girê Kun, Zêvkê, Girê Reşîd, Girê Zengil, Deşta Kafya, Heftebax in Garê region 380 times; the areas of Bêşîlî, Şêlazê, Serê Metîna in Metîna region 89 times; Girê Bahar area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 144 times.
