HPG reports ongoing actions by guerrillas

People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office has said in its daily statement that activities of the unmanned aircraft of the Turkish army as well as its jets have increased.

Accordingly, Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles carried out reconnaissance flights over;

- Şemzinan (Şemdinli) area of Hakkari at between 14:00 – 20:00 on August 2,

- Avashin area at between 21:00 on August 2 and 08:00 on August 3,

- Zap region and the border line at between 09:00- 13:00 on 2 August and at between 20:00 on 2 August and 12:00 on 3 August.

Bombardments carried out by the Turkish troops against the guerrilla areas continued increasingly. Accordingly;

- Turkish soldiers at Oramar military post located in Yüksekova district of Hakkari fired on Martyr Gafur area at the border line of Avashin with mortars, tanks and howitzers at between 13:00 – 17:00 on August 2.

- Çarçella area was bombarded with mortars and howitzers from Bezelê military post located at the border with Zagros area of Medya Defence Forces at between 16:00 – 17:00 on August 2.

- Bombardment with Cobra type helicopters, jets and howitzers from TRT regiment in Şırnak targeted Cotyar Hill, Gabar area and Komando Hill at between 03:00 – 06:00 on August 2.

- Bombardment launched from Eriş military post with howitzers and mortars targeted Hill Hakan area at the border line of Zap region of Medya Defence Zones at between 08:00 – 09:00 on 3 August, and the Xeregol area of Martyr Rüstem at between 08:00 – 10:00 on August 2.

- Bombardment launched from Bilican military posts with howitzers, tanks and mortars targeted Hill Güvenlik, Garêya Piçuk Erbiş village at between 13:30 – 14:30 and 15:00 – 16:00 on August 2.

Actions of HPG guerrillas at many locations

People’s Defence Forces Press Office further reported that guerrillas' retaliation actions in response to the war policies of the Turkish state are also continuing increasingly, and gave the following information regarding the actions by the guerrillas:

- Guerrillas carried out an action against the soldiers keeping guard of the oil pipeline located between Ekser and Gındırêsê villages of Midyat district of Mardin at 22:45 on August 1. A following sabotage action targeted two armored vehicles patrolling in the area, which left one destroyed and the other damaged. While the exact number of casualties could not be verified, the Turkish military removed the dead bodies of soldiers from the area with a Skorsky type helicopter. On August 2, Turkish soldiers launched an operation in the area, ending it the same day without obtaining any results.

- Guerrillas carried out an action with individual and heavy weaponry against the District Gendarme Command in Hezex district of Şırnak at 03:00 on July 31. While the casualties of the Turkish army could not be verified, Turkish soldiers launched an operation in the area following the action of the guerrillas. The operation was ended the same day without any results.

- In another sabotage action with heavy weapons, guerrillas targeted a police convoy passing by the town centre in Hezex district of Şırnak at 00:00 on August 2, leaving one armored vehicle destroyed, one other damaged and at least 2 police officers dead.

- At between 06:00 – 11:00 on 1 August, guerrillas blocked the road between Pervari and Şaxê districts of Siirt and performed ID checks in addition to informing the local people about the process.

Sikorsky helicopter damaged in Dersim

People’s Defence Units further reported that the guerrilla forces hit and damaged a Sikorsky type of helicopter which had taken off from Bilgeç military post located in Ovacık district of Dersim on August 1. Special operation units dispatched to the area upon the action were also targeted by guerrillas, which left two members of special operation police teams dead and two others wounded.

HPG also informed about the decree of the Dersim Governor's Office, which declared Kutudere, Vali Brook, Kozmerik, Kuruşlu, Leter, Sal Valley, surroundings of Geyikli river, surroundings of Central Cemetery, Layk Stream, Ali boğazı, Dola Xat, Dokuz Kayalar and Viran regions as forbidden military zone for between August 4 and 19.

Muş-Amed-Pasur road under guerrilla control for a week

People’s Defence Forces lastly reported about the guerrilla actions and controls over several roads in North Kurdistan region. Accordingly, guerrillas had the control over the highway between Muş and Pasur district of Amed for the past one week, and Amed-Bingöl highway at between 19:00 on August 2 and 09:00 on August 3.

Guerrillas blocked the road between Varto and Kop districts of Muş at between 19:00 – 23:00 on August 2, and have closed the highway between Amed and Bingöl on August 2, but allowing passage in a controlled way.
