Guerrillas of HPG (People's Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) continue their actions as part of the “Martyr Reşit Serdar Initiative” against the ongoing attacks by the Turkish state and its security forces.
HPG listed in a written statement the following details about the actions conducted by guerrillas;
Guerrillas conducted an action with heavy weapons targeting the Rubarak and Grana guard posts at the border to Avashin region of Medya Defense Zones at 10:00 and 12:30 on August 21.
While the action resulted in material damage in the guard posts, YJA Star guerrillas also hit the Hill Sivri guard post between 15:00-17:00 the same day.
MLITARY CONVOY HIT IN HAKKARİ
Guerrillas targeted a Turkish military convoy on its way from Hakkari to Çukurca at 10:00 on August 21. The action near Dawuşa village left one vehicle destroyed and one other damaged, while soldiers in the destroyed one were all killed but the exact number of casualties couldn't be verified.
One other soldier was killed and two more were wounded as guerrillas alsotargeted the soldiers walking near the convoy.
ID CHECK ON HAKKARİ-VAN ROAD
Guerrillas performed ID check near the Xapıtağa village in Başkale on Van-Hakkari road at 20:30 on August 21. Guerrillas stopped 80 cars and held the road till this morning.
TURKISH DRONE FELL DOWN
A Turkish drone called Anka fell down in an area between Garisa area of Siirt and Xerkol guard post on August 18. While the wrecks of the drone remain at the scene, Turkish soldiers seized the camera placed on it.
ARMORED VEHICLES CARRYING SOLDIERS SABOTAGED
Guerrillas hit and damaged an armored vehicle on Şırnak-Uludere road at 12:00 on 21 August. Another armored vehicle that came to the scene for intervention after the action was also hit and damaged, while the casualties couldn't be verified. Turkish troops shelled Mount Fılla with howitzer and mortar fire after the incident.
Guerrillas targeted and hit a guard box near police lodge in Şırnak city center at 21:00 on August 20. The number of casualties couldn't be made clear.
VEHICLES IN A STONE QUARRY BURNT DOWN
Guerrillas burnt down and destroyed 10 vehicles in a stone quarry on the road between Midyat and İdil districts of Mardin between 19:30-20:00 on August 21.
Guerrillas blocked the road between Şırnak and its Cizre district from 19:30 to 20:00 on August 21. Besides performing ID check, guerrillas spread propaganda to the people travelling in some 100 car stopped here. They also seized a car belonging to a bank manager in Mardin after it attempted to flee the scene despite a warning fire.
FREIGHT TRAIN SABOTAGED
The railway between Muş and Erzurum was reopened and became operational as of August 20 after remaining under the control of guerrillas for some time.
A freight train on its way from Tatvan district of Bitlis to Elazığ was sabotaged by guerrillas at 11:30 on August 20, which left two wagons destroyed and two others derailed.
AMED-PASUR ROAD UNDER GUERRILLA CONTROL
The road between Kulp (Pasur) district of Amed and Muş has been under the control of guerrillas since July 27.
Guerrillas destroyed a base station on Şexan road in Kulp district of Amed after setting it on fire on August 20.
In a sabotage action carried out by guerrillas against Korxe military post in Lice district of Amed at 13.30 on August 21, one Turkish soldier was wounded.
ACTION AGAINST A CIVILIAN POLICE VEHICLE
Guerrillas targeted a civilian police vehicle patrolling in Beşyüzevler neighbourhood in Kayapınar district of Amed at 01:00 on August 21, leaving two policemen wounded, one of them heavily.
Guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against a train on its way from Genç district of Bingöl to Elazığ at 15:10 on August 21, leaving the locomotive, a wagon of the train and the railway damaged. Following the action of the guerrillas, special operation units and village guards were sent to the scene.
HPG Press office also reported that the operation launched by the Turkish military in Lice-Hani-Karas (Kocaköy) triangle in Amed on 17 August continues. While Turkish troops are positioned on Hill Zerga Hill and its foothills, Sikorsky type helicopters continuously carry out flights over the area.
HPG further reported that one guerrilla, nom de guerre Şoresger Kop, lost his life in the bombardment carried out by a Cobra type helicopter in Amed-Farqin-Kocaköy triangle on 20 August.
HPG went on reporting that guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against an armoured vehicle in Huzurevleri neighbourhood of Amed on August 18. While the number of the casualties in the vehicle could not be clarified, Turkish forces removed the vehicle from the area with a crane.
GUERRILLA ACTION IN RESPONSE TO THE MASSACRE OF CIVILIANS
HPG reported that guerrillas carried out successful and effective actions in response to the massacre of civilians and retreated back to their emplacements after the actions.
At between 00:00 on August 21 and 01:00 on August 22, guerrillas destroyed one container and 10 trucks of Aydoğdu Company working for the AKP on the road between Tekman and Hınıs districts of Erzurum as the company continued its works despite the warnings made by guerrillas several times.
HPG reported that the operation launched by the Turkish military in Baykan and Şirvan areas of Siirt on August 20 was retreated without any results in the evening hours.
At 21:30 on August 21, guerrillas carried out an action against Korxan military post in Iğdır, which has been encircled by guerrillas since August 14. While one soldier was killed in the action, Turkish troops opened random fire on the surroundings of the post after the action.
Guerrillas destroyed a base station of GSM operator Turkcell in Qare village of Ağrı at 23:00 on August 21.
Turkish jets bombarded the areas of Deriyê Munzur, Dola Kutudere, Kurudere, Dola PKK, Rojdere, Kozmerik, Deriyê Harpik, Engirman foothills and Bağkê in coordination with reconnaissance flights at between 15:00-17:00 on August 21. On the other hand, bombardments launched from the military post in Kutudere and Yoldere military post with mortars and howitzers targeted Rojdere, Harpik and Deriyê areas.
Moreover, three Sikorsky type helicopters airdropped soldiers in the area at 06:00 on August 22, while three Cobra type helicopters hit Seyit Rıza castle.
HPG lastly reported that Dersim-Erzincan and Dersim-Ovacık roads remain under the control of guerrillas who are performing security checks on these roads.
