HPG reports continued Turkish airstrikes on Southern Kurdistan

The Turkish state has accelerated its attacks against Southern Kurdistan, Northern Iraq as part of its genocidal campaign targeting the Kurdish people in various parts of their country.

The Press Office of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement announcing the details of the latest airstrikes carried out by the Turkish army on guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan, Northern Iraq.

According to the statement, Turkish jets shelled the following locations on 19 August:

- Vicinity of the Kavilka village in Gare region at 12:00,

- The village of Kani Mezin in Metina region at 13:00,

- The village of Keste at 15:00,

- The area of Dola Bote, Hill Martyr Cihan and the village of Shexan in Qandil region from 23:00 to 00:00,

- The area of Tabura Ereban in Avashin region in the evening hours.

The HPG statement continued: “Civilian Xalid Abdurrahman who rushed to the scene of the bombardment in Kani Mezin village to put out the fire caused by the attack, was deliberately targeted and murdered by the occupant Turkish army. Through the media under its control, the fascist Turkish state attempts to present the local people it deliberately murders as PKK members and to cover up the massacres they have committed.”

HPG expressed their condolences to the family of slain civilian and the patriotic people of Kurdistan and vowed to avenge those massacred in attacks by the fascist Turkish state.
