HPG: Eight soldiers killed in ongoing guerrilla actions

Retaliation actions of the HPG/YJA STAR guerrillas against the attacks of the Turkish army continue. People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office reported in its daily statement that at least 8 Turkish soldiers were killed in guerrilla actions in which in addition a Sikorsky type helicopter of the Turkish military was damaged.
HPG Press Office firstly reported in its statement about the ongoing military activities of the Turkish army.
Concerning the intensely ongoing aerial activities of the Turkish military, HPG gave the following information regarding the reconnaissance flights by unmanned aerial vehicles:
-Over Qandil region of Medya Defence Zones at between 11:00 – 13:00 on August 1, and at between 19:00 on August 1 and 13:00 on August 2 and at between 06:30 – 09:30 on August 4,
-Over Şemzinan area of Hakkari at between 14:00 – 20:00 on August 2,
-Over Oremar area at the border line of Avashin at between 10:00 – 19:00 on August 3,
-Over Gare area at between 06:00 – 12:00 on August 4,
-Over Metina area at between 05:00 – 16:00 on August 3,
-Over Zap region at between 12:00 – 16:00 on August 3 and at between 03:00 – 12:00 on August 4.
Regarding the flights of the Turkish jets, HPG gave the following information:
-Over Avashin area and Zap region at between 14:30 – 15:00 on August 3,
-Over rural areas of Iğdır at between 20:00 – 21:00 on August 3.
Bombardments of the Turkish army continue
HPG Press office went on reporting the bombardments carried out by Turkish soldiers against the guerrilla held areas. Accordingly, Turkish troops carried out the following bombardments:
Bombardment with howitzers and mortars launched from Gare regiment at the Xakurke border line targeted Hill Kurê Mizgeftê, Çiyayê Gostê, Hill Martyr Armanç and Hill Geniş at between 16:00 – 17:00 on August 3,
Bombardment with howitzers and tanks launched from Bêzelê military post at the border line of Zagros region targeted Hill Martyr Hozan and Kale Veragol areas at between 21:00 – 22:00 on August 3,
Bombardment with howitzers and mortars launched from Oremar military post in Yüksekova district of Hakkari targeted Hill Martyr Rahime, Hill Martyr Bager, Hill Martyr Agit, Şukê and Hill Martyr Gafur areas at between 11:00 – 12:00 on August 3,
Bombardment with howitzers and mortars launched from Grana military post targeted Govendê area at 04:00 on August 4,
Bombardment with tanks launched from Hill Maymun at the Heftanin border line targeted Martyr Ronahi area at between 19:00 – 20:00 on August 3,
Bombardment with mortars and tanks launched from Eriş military post at the Zap region border line targeted Xeregol, Hill Hakan and Şelale areas at between 12:00 – 13:00 on August 3,
Bombardment with howitzers and mortars launched from Eriş and Şeker military posts targeted Hill Hakan, Gundê Eriş, Dola Heştididu and Xeregol areas at between 14:00-18:00 on August 3.
Regarding the military activities of the Turkish forces, HPG lastly reported that the Turkish jets supported by drones carried out bombardments on Canmeda, Şelale, Gundê Zerê, Gundê Erbiş and Xeregol areas at the border line of Zap region of Medya Defence Zones at between 13:00 – 14:00 on August 3.
Guerrilla attacks
HPG emphasized that guerrillas were responding to Turkish state attacks effectively, and attacked the police headquarters in Amed’s Bağlar district at 21:30 on July 31. The number of police officers killed or wounded during this attack has not yet been clarified.
According to the HPG statement;
Guerrillas carried out an assassination attack and killed one soldier in the Kısımlı guard post located in Van’s Başkale district at 05:20 on August 4. Guerrillas also attacked the 15 special operations police forces in the police station located in Amed’s Pasur district at 22:00 on August 3. The number of police officers killed or wounded during this attack has not yet been clarified.
Guerrillas attacked the Mılıka guard post in Amed’s Pasur district at 19:15 on August 3, and the soldiers guarding the dam in Amed’s Farqin district at 19:00 on the same day. They also destroyed one container and one cabin near the dam, killing 4 soldiers who were inside the destroyed cabin.
Guerrillas blocked the road between the Genç and Selvê regions of Bingöl between 18:00 and 19:00 on August 3, and informed the passing by civilians about the recent political process. HPG guerrillas also blocked the roads between Van’s Çaldıran district and Ağrı’s Bazid district at 17:00 on August 3, and destroyed a vehicle owned by the state.
Guerrillas uerrillas have been controlling the road between Iğdır and Kağızman for some time now, as well as the road between Dersim and Erzincan for the past 5 days.
Guerrillas attacked a watch post located in the military hospital in Bitlis’ Tatvan district at 23:00 on August 2, and killed a specialist sergeant during this attack. The Turkish army carried out an operation around the hospital after the HPG attack, and this operation ended without yielding any results.
Guerrillas uerrillas sabotaged an armored vehicle traveling on the road between Bitlis and Baykan at 07:30 on August 3, and heavily damaged the vehicle.
Turkish soldiers, accompanied by drones, carried out an operation in the Kaniya Masiya and Kanê Gorkê regions of Muş’s Malazgirt district at 04:00 on August 3, and arrested civilians after their failure to attack guerilla forces.
HPG reported that a Skorsky helicopter of the Turkish army attacked guerrillas in an area between Van and Ağrı’s Bazid district at 12:30 on August 3, and retreated after the guerrillas’ response with heavy weaponry that damaged the helicopter.
HPG ended its statement by saying that guerrillas sabotaged the natural gas pipeline in Sarıkamış district of Kars at 01:00 on August 4 and the bridge leading to Bêzelê guard post in the Mehendê region of Hakkari’s Şemdinli district at 06:00 on August 3. Guerrillas destroyed one part of the pipeline as well as the bridge, and have been controlling the road between Gevrê Civiyan and Bêzelê in Hakkari since August 3.
