HPG calls on the Iraqi army to act with awareness regarding the troop deployment in South Kurdistan

HPG called on the Iraqi army to act with awareness with regard to the deployment of troops in parts of the Zap and Avashin regions of the Medya Defense Zones where an intense war is going on between the guerrilla forces and the Turkish army.

The Press Office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement calling on the Iraqi army to act with caution in view of the troop deployments in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The statement released by HPG on Monday includes the following: "In the past few days, troops, alleged to be border guards of the Iraqi armed forces, have been deployed in parts of Zap and Avashin. The places where the Iraqi forces are trying to get are kilometers away from the official borders of the Iraqi and Turkish states. These points are the inner lines of southern Kurdistan where the intense war between the guerrilla and the occupying Turkish army is currently going on. We are not against Iraqi border forces holding the border, but the places where they have been dispatched to are not the borderlines. It is understood that some forces are pursuing their schemes through the deployment of these forces to the buffer zones where intense fighting is taking place. It would be more useful for Iraqi forces to act with the awareness of this reality and the war in the area."
