HPG Media center announced that guerrillas inflicted heavy blows against the Turkish army as 15 soldiers and police officers were killed in Mardin, Dersim, Urfa, Şırnak and Kars.

MİDYAT ACTION

HPG stated that guerrillas blocked the roads leading to Mardin’s Midyat and Nusaybin districts at 06:00 on August 21, and Turkish soldiers attacked the guerrillas with Cobra-type helicopters around 12:00 and damaged civilians’ cars and gardens. Turkish soldiers also launched an operation in the area around 15:30, but guerrillas quickly responded to the soldiers’ deployment and damaged a Sikorsky-type helicopter. Clashes broke out and 1 soldier was killed. Soldiers tried to infiltrate in the area around 19:00, but were met with the resistance of the guerrillas, as a result of which 4 soldiers were killed. Soldiers randomly bombarded the area from Cobra-type helicopters until 21:00. HPG stated that clashes broke out between the guerrillas and the soldiers at 06:30 on August 22, and the number of dead and injured soldiers couldn't be determined. Soldiers reportedly shot at a civilian car passing through the area.

COMPREHENSIVE ACTION IN NAZİMİYE, DERSİM

HPG Media Center stated that guerrillas carried out an action to commemorate martyrs Roza Efrin and her comrades in Dersim’s Nazimiye district at 05:00 on August 22. Guerrillas infiltrated military positions in the district from 7 different directions, targeted police headquarters, courthouse, governorship building, police lodgings and commando battalion, destroyed several armored vehicles and damaged a Cobra-type helicopter. HPG noted that many soldiers were killed in the action, and some soldiers shot at the houses of civilians during the curfew that was declared in the district on August 22.

4 SPECIAL OPERATIONS OFFICERS KILLED IN URFA

Guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against soldiers inside an armored vehicle on the Urfa-Viranşehir road at 21:00 on August 21, which left 4 special operations police officers dead.

4 SOLDIERS KILLED IN MARDİN

One other action by guerrillas targeted the soldiers at Ilısu Dam in Mardin’s Dargeçit district at 08:30 on August 22, and 4 soldiers were killed and 1 armored vehicle was damaged here.

1 SOLDIER KILLED AND 3 SOLDIERS WOUNDED IN ŞIRNAK

Turkish soldiers launched an operation and raided houses in the Govikê village of Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district at 12:00 on August 22. Guerrillas carried out an action on these soldiers, as a result of which 1 soldier was killed and 3 soldiers were wounded before the army retreated around 22:00 on the same day without yielding any results.

1 SOLDIER KILLED IN KARS

Guerrillas conducted another action against Turkish soldiers on a secret mission near the areas of Boristan and Xeta Som in the Çemçê region of Kars’ Kağızman district at 16:30 on August 22, which left 1 soldier dead.

Guerrillas carried out another sabotage action against a village guard between Elemun outpost and Şehidan Hill in Şırnak’s Uludere district at 16:00 on August 22. The village guard was killed and his vehicle was destroyed.
