The HPG Amed Command has said in a written statement that any project that will destroy the nature of Kurdistan will be considered an attack and added “The ongoing construction of the Silvan dam that will destroy the nature of Kurdistan and submerge it under water must immediately be stopped. This is the last warning we will issue”.
HPG said in its statement that the Kurdish Liberation Movement aims to develop an ecological society as a democratic movement struggling for freedom, adding that the struggle for the environment is one of the primary struggles of the movement as the advance of a democratic and free society can only be achieved through ecological freedom.
HPG stressed that the Turkish state and the government deliberately constructs dams and hydroelectric plants in Kurdistan aiming not only at the destruction of its nature and ecological balance but also its historical heritage and culture, adding that the destruction of the urban-rural balance of nature in Kurdistan is the aim of these projects.
HPG recalled that the Kurdish leader, Abdullah Öcalan, as well as the HPG itself, had many times warned the Turkish government against these projects, adding that they were issuing a final warning regarding the construction of the Silvan dam, and urged the government to immediately halt its construction.
HPG also warned the people about taking part or working on the construction of these dams.
HPG said they will consider any project that may destroy the nature of Kurdistan as an attack, and added that they will take legitimate warning actions, unless the construction of the dam is halted.
