HPG: 24 soldiers killed in the Turkish army operation at Besta

HPG reported that Turkish troops suffered heavy losses in Besta region of Şırnak, Northern Kurdistan. Accordingly, 24 Turkish soldiers were killed and 13 guerrillas lost their lives in the battle in this territory since April 20.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Centre announced the results of the Turkish army operation and clashes with guerrilla forces in Besta region of Şırnak.

The statement by HPG Press Centre underlined that: “In the operations carried out by the Turkish army in the area of Besta, the special war media think that they will be able to conceal the consequences of the war with distorted and false news. The Turkish army has suffered heavy losses in the intensive battle where there was also a loss of our guerrillas.”

HPG gave the following details of these results;

“On 19 April, the Turkish army launched an operation in Şırnak's Besta area. Within the scope of the operation;

APRIL 20-21: 12 SOLDIERS KILLED

On the evening of April 20th, our forces carried out actions against the operation units in Xırbıkê Besta area in two separate arms. In this action, 5 soldiers were killed on the first arm and 3 soldiers were killed on the other arm.

On the afternoon of April 21st, the Turkish army's warplanes bombarded the territory of Nala Gova. On the same day, our forces carried out an action against soldiers positioned on the top of Martyr Armanc hill and 4 soldiers were killed here.

On the evening of April 22, the Turkish army soldiers withdrew from the hill.

APRIL 23: 4 SOLDIERS KILLED, SIKORSKY HELİCOPTERS HIT

On April 23rd, our forces carried out aN ambush action in the areas of Gırê Hêliz and Gırê Sevo. At 06.45 in the morning, soldiers trying to enter the Gırê Sêvo area were effectively shot by our forces and four soldiers were killed.

Sikorsky-type helicopters came to the area at 09.00 hours and carried away the dead and wounded soldiers. The Sikorsky helicopters flying over the area were shot by our forces, and had to leave the area.

APRIL 24: 2 SOLDIERS KILLED

On April 24th, at 11:00 am, our forces shot enemy units at the Martyr Dilşêr strait between Besta Meyremê and Besta Bıluzerê. Two soldiers were killed here. After the action, the Turkish army bombed the area with howitzers and mortars.

On the same day, the Turkish army soldiers came from Osyan and positioned on Gırê Sor hill.

On April 26, our forces shot the soldiers positioned on Gırê Sor. The number of dead and injured soldiers has not been clarified here. On the night of the same day, the soldiers left Gırê Sor.

APRIL 26: 6 SOLDIERS KILLED

Again, on April 26 at 14:00, our forces carried out an infiltration action against the enemy units positioned at the top of Martyr Dilşêr hill. In this action, 2 positions were effectively destroyed by shooting from RPG-7 weapons. A total of 6 soldiers were killed in these positions.

After the action, Sikorsky helicopters, with the support of Cobra helicopters, retrieved their dead and wounded. At the same time, the Cobra helicopters shelling the area were hit with medium automatic weapons and were forced to leave the area.

13 GUERRILLAS MARTYRED, 24 SOLDIERS KILLED

During the operation, while a total of 13 of our guerrillas were martyred, at least 24 soldiers were killed during the clashes and attacks. As the activity of the Turkish army continues on the Şehriban line, the information about the operation will be shared with the public as details are obtained.

The ID information of our guerrillas who fell as martyrs will be announced later.

At 8:20 am on April 28th, the Turkish army's warplanes bombed Cehennem hill in the area of Çiyayê Reş, Zap region.”
