HPG: 16 soldiers killed, 21 others wounded in Başkale

People's Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) reported that the action of guerrillas against Kani Spi guard post in Başkale district of Van left 16 soldiers dead, including 4 high-ranking, and 21 others wounded. HPG said the guard post was greatly demolished and became unusable.

In a written statement about the ongoing actions by guerrillas, HPG said one soldier was killed as a result of an assassination action against the soldiers in Durê guard post at the border to Xakurkê area of Medya Defense Zones at 08:30 on October 7.

The Turkish army operation in Mêrgezerê, Gelîyê Doskî and Binbir areas of Hakkari's Yüksekova district continues since September 27 without making a remarkable advance.

In another action, guerrillas effectively hit a tower in Gırê guard post at the border to Zap region of Medya Defense Zones at 12:00 on October 7. The number of casualties left by the action couldn't be clarified.

ASSASSINATION ACTION BY YJA STAR GUERRILLAS

YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) guerrillas carried out an assassination action against the soldiers at Hill Ortê guard post at the border to Zap region of Medya Defense Zones at 12:30 on October 7. One soldier was killed here.

ACTION IN MEMORY OF THE GUERRILLAS MARTYRED IN ÖZALP

In memory of their comrades martyred in Şırnak's Beytüşşebap district and Van's Başkale district, guerrillas carried out an action against Kani Spi guard post in Başkale district of Van at 18:30 on October 6.

Providing further details regarding the action in addition to those announced yesterday, HPG said 16 soldiers, including 4 high-ranking, were killed and 21 others were wounded in this expansive action which also left the guard post unusable.

VILLAGE GUARD KILLED A GUERRILLA

HPG-BIM said guerrilla Şiyar Selmas, with whom contact had been lost during the action, was killed by a village guard by the name of Selam Demir who attacked him despite all his warnings, which left him martyred. The village guard also shot and wounded two civilians.

HPG stressed that guerrilla Şiyar Selmas, who joined the ranks of the freedom struggle from East Kurdistan in 2007, will be avenged for this attack and conspiracy.

The statement said troops in TRT Gabar, Gırê Cotyar, Zıvıngê and Fındıkê areas have shelled Gabar area with howitzers and mortars for the last two days.

ACTION AGAINST GUARD POST IN BİTLİS

Guerrillas conducted an action against the guard post in Qenexder village of Bitlis at 08:00 on October 7. Besides hitting the guard post building and its entrance gate from three sides, guerrillas also carried out assassination actions, as a result of which many soldiers were killed or wounded, yet the death toll couldn't be made clear. At least 2 soldiers were verified killed in the action which was carried out in memory of Martyr Serhat and Martyr Serxwebun.

TURKISH ARMY STARTED AN OPERATION IN ERZURUM

Turkish army started a large-scale operation in the rural areas of Reşo, Mêrgaxellê and Alicar villages in Erzurum's Karayazı district on October 7. The operation still continues.

HPG said 9 guerrillas were martyred during the three days of heavy clashes that erupted upon the revolutionary operation which lasted 24 hours in Şırnak's Beytüşşebap district on September 24. HPG added that this announcement on the fallen guerrillas could be provided belatedly due to loss of contact with the guerrilla units in the area.
