HPG: 14 Turkish soldiers killed, 1 attack helicopter damaged

The HPG reported that 14 Turkish soldiers were killed, another was injured, and 1 military position was destroyed in guerrilla actions. Moreover, 1 attack helicopter and 1 drone were hit and damaged.

The Press Centre of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information regarding the ongoing invasion operation of the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq.

The statement released on Tuesday includes the following:

“Our forces are inflicting serious blows on the invading Turkish army in a series of effective actions with mobile guerrilla teams. Unable to advance in the face of our forces putting up outstanding resistance in the battle positions, the invading Turkish army is continuing to commit war crimes by using chemical weapons intensively. Despite all the dirty war methods of the colonial Turkish state, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla repels the attacks of the invaders through substantial guerrilla tactics.

As a result of the effective actions by our forces, 14 Turkish soldiers were killed, another was injured, and 1 military position was destroyed. Moreover, 1 attack helicopter and 1 drone were hit and damaged.

The details of the actions are as follows:

IN AVAŞIN REGION:

On April 23, the Turkish troops in the Werxelê Resistance Area were targeted by our forces using assassination tactics, leaving 3 soldiers dead and one other injured.

On April 24, at 13:30 and 14:20, the Werxelê Resistance Area was bombed by the invading Turkish army. On the same day, at 15:20, the Turkish troops who attempted to attack the area once again with explosives, were shot at close range by our forces, and 2 of them were killed. Turkish fighter jets bombed the Resistance Area in the evening.

IN ZAP REGION:

On April 24, at 16:00, the Turkish troops around the Girê Ortê battle positions in the Girê Karker area were shot by our forces and 1 soldier was killed.

On April 24, at 17:10 and 17:30, the Turkish troops located around the Şikefta Birîndara Resistance Area were targeted by our forces with heavy weapons. The targets were successfully hit.

On April 24, the Turkish troops seeking to attack the Girê Cûdî Resistance Area were targeted by our forces with assassination tactics and 1 of them was killed.

On April 24, at 10:30, the Turkish troops located around the Şehîd Berxwedan Resistance Area were struck by our forces. 2 of them were killed and 1 military position was destroyed.

In the morning hours of April 24, the Turkish troops located the Kurojahro Resistance Area were shot by our forces with heavy weapons, which left at least 2 soldiers dead.

On April 24, the Turkish troops that attempted to take positions around the Werxelê Resistance Area were targeted by our forces and 1 soldier was killed.

On April 24, at 18:00, a drone flying over the Şehîd Şahin Resistance Area was struck by our forces.

On April 24, the Turkish troops seeking to take positions around the Girê Mamreş battle positions in the Kurojahro Resistance Area were shot by our forces with individual weapons and 2 soldiers were killed.

On April 24 at 20:40, Turkish attack helicopters that went into action to shell the Girê Rubar area were targeted by our forces and 1 attack helicopter was damaged.

On April 24, the battle positions of Girê Ortê, Girê Şehîd Cûdî, Girê Şehîd Berxwedan, and Şehîd Hewrê were bombed 19 times with explosives and chemical weapons.

On April 24, Şikefta Birîndara and Şehîd Şahin, Çiyareş, Şehîd Berxwedan Resistance Areas were bombed 11 times by Turkish fighter jets, as well as by attack helicopters and howitzers fired from the military outposts on the border line. On the same day, the Çemço area was bombed by Turkish fighter jets.

On April 24 and 25, Girê Cûdî and Girê FM areas in the Zap region were bombed 7 times by Turkish fighter jets as well as by mortars and howitzers fired from the military outposts on the border line. During the same hours, the Golka area and Girê Hakkarî in the Metîna region were bombed 3 times by Turkish fighter jets.”
