HPG Press Office has released a statement reporting that the intensified activity of Turkish military forces at the border to Haftanin area of Medya Defense Zones continued.

HPG said Turkish army attempted to enter the Martyr Kendal area with the help of ongoing bombardments by jets from the air and by troops from the land.

Remarking that guerrillas responded to these attacks with effective actions, HPG said an action by guerrillas targeted a unit of soldiers attempting to infiltrate into Martyr Kendal area from two sides on August 19.

While six soldiers were killed in the action, the rest of the Turkish unit retreated from the area immediately. Casualties were later transported from the area with Sikorsky and Cobra type helicopters.

Turkish troops once again attempted to enter the same area with armored diggers between 08:00-09:00 on August 21. In an action targeting this convoy which was led by a Jammer vehicle, guerrillas destroyed an armored digger, which left seven soldiers dead.
