As the reestablished curfew enters its 11th day in Silopi, state forces continue demolishing commercial and residential buildings in Başak and Barbaros neighborhoods that haven’t seen a clash in 3 days.
In Şırnak's Silopi district where genocidal attacks of state forces have been reinstated, demolition continues on the basis of the “urgent expropriation” decree recently issued by the Turkish cabinet. During the 11 day long curfew, 8 civilians including two children aged 2 and 14 have been killed and many people were wounded in the attacks.
The ongoing curfew was declared again after a clash between state forces and the YPS/YPS-JIN on the night of April 4 continued into the morning. 8 civilians including babies and the elderly and 5 YPS/YPS-JIN members lost their lives and dozens were injured during the bombings throughout the 11 day long martial law practice.
The 7 people killed on April 8 were laid to rest in Silopi under state forces’ blockade with only 2 people from each family allowed to attend. Dozens, including the DBP district branch co-chair, were detained in house raids that have continued since the declaration of the curfew. The detainees were released after being processed in the police headquarters. Some state they have faced torture in custody.
25 people have been fined for violating the curfew.
Commercial and residential buildings are being torn down with construction equipment in Barbaros and Başak neighborhoods that are included in the “urgent expropriation” decree for the last 3 days.
