The demonstrators stormed the parliament building with rifles and gunshots were heard inside the building.

A Twitter account for the Supporters of the Movement for Change in Iraqi Kurdistan tweeted: "Kurdistan House of Parliament has fallen to Mob from #Barzani KDP - we have lost contact with our MPs, KNN Tv crew."

There are some reports of at least two people killed and journalists attacked with batons.

The protestors are supporters of Masoud Barzani, whose powers were transferred to High Committee of Justice after he resigned from the presidency.
