HDP Youth Congress held in Amed

"Revolutionary youth resistance and struggle will play an important role in building a democratic nation."

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Council held its Congress in Amed on Sunday.

The second ordinary congress of the HDP Youth Council was held in Amed on Sunday under the motto “Organize, become free and crush colonialism”.

Thousands of young people from four parts of Kurdistan attended the congress, including members of the Youth’s Revolutionary Forces (DEV-GÜÇ), Revolutionary Party, Kurdistan Communist Party Students’ Union from Federal Kurdistan Region and Youth’s Union from Iran.

The Congress heard messages from the Syrian Revolutionary Youth and Young Women's Union as well as from the Middle East Youth Initiative.

The message sent by the Syrian Revolutionary Youth and Young Women's Union was greeted with great enthusiasm by young delegates.

“It is of great courage to hold a congress in such a challenging process. We hope that this will be the beginning of a new era in terms of Kurdistan and Turkey.

Revolutionary youth resistance and struggle will play an important role in building a democratic nation”, said the message.

“We believe - continued the message - that this resistance and struggle will achieve the end of the isolation regime imposed on Abdullah Öcalan”. 


Democratic Modernity

In their message the Middle East Youth Initiative said: “We congratulate the congress of the HDP Youth Council. We believe that the crisis will be overcome with a strong youth organization, and we believe that the role of Kurdish People’s leader, Abdullah Öcalan, will be the biggest factor. We congratulate all young people”.

After reading the messages read, Büşra Kuyun, Narin Dönmez, Ümit Akbıyık, Ramazan Toktaşer, Şevin Sarıbulak, Sevim Akdağ, Sultan Taş, Cengiz Fidan, Nurullah Özgün, Esra Keskin and Rıdvan Öztürk were elected members of the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors will determine the co-chairs in a meeting to be held after the congress.
