HDP Urfa deputy Dilek Öcalan who spoke to ANF about the blast in Suruç district said “We have learned that the blast was caused by a bomb placed in a bag which was detonated during the assembly of the youths”, quoting the eyewitnesses they talked to at scene.

Öcalan stated that around 30 people have died, and that their bodies still lie in the garden of the Amara Culture Center where members of the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) coming from various cities have gathered for a press release before their planned cross into Kobanê to help the reconstruction works today.

“We cannot provide an exact figure of casualties as many bodies have been scattered around in pieces”, she said, adding that the wounded have been taken to hospital.

Öcalan called for urgent blood donation for the wounded at hospitals in Urfa.
