HDP Amed MPs on hunger strike

HDP’s Amed MPs have launched a 3-day hunger strike against the isolation.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Amed MPs have launched a 3-day hunger strike against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. MPs Selcu Mizrakli, Dersim Dag, Remziye Tosun, Semra Guzel, Musa Farisogullari and Saliha Aydeniz are participating in the strike held in the Vedat Aydin Conference Hall in the HDP provincial office.

“AKP DEEPENS INSOLUBILITY”

HDP MP Selcuk Mizrakli read a statement and said DTK Co-chair Leyla Guven’s hunger strike is on day 26 and protested the police raiding the HDP Mersin offices and detaining hunger strikers. Mizrakli said the AKP government’s pressure against actions and events by their party for peace and a solution deepens insolubility and added: “To give a voice to those who are putting their bodies on the line to end the isolation policies that concern all groups in society concerned with humane and peaceful ways, we as the Amed MPs are starting a 3-day hunger strike in support.”

Mizrakli said the government should realize their responsibility at once and added: “We want to draw attention to the hunger strikes launched in prisons and to demand a response to this humanitarian demand that concerns the whole of society, and a path for dialogue and a solution. The government is responsible for negative eventualities of the hunger strikes. We are calling on the government to heed this call coming from the prisons at once, and to open paths for dialogue and a solution.”
