Explosion in Khanaqin: 1 dead, 4 wounded

There was a bomb attack against Hashdi Shaabi militia in the Kurdish province of Khanaqin, which was taken over by the Iraqi central government last year. One militiaman died in the attack while 4 others were wounded.

Reports say a landmine exploded as a vehicle belonging to Shia militia group Hashdi Shaabi was passing by in Sidiye town of Khanaqin.

Local sources say one Hashdi Shaabi member died in the explosion and 4 others were wounded. An investigation has been launched against the explosion.

There has been an increase in explosions in the Khanaqin and Kirkuk regions in recent months. On October 15, 2 landmines exploded back to back in the Yusuf Beg village of Khanaqin, wounding one policeman.

ISIS gangs had most recently attacked the Qaye village in Xaneqin where Shia Arabs and Kurds live together in the Gulala subdistrict. 7 civilians, 3 of them children, had been wounded in this attack.

The most recent incident in Kirkuk was a car bomb explosion on October 13 where 6 people were wounded.
