Explosion in Gever caused by Turkish ammunition

Three days ago a twelve-year-old boy was seriously injured in an explosion in Gever. As it turned out, the explosive was ammunition from the Turkish army, which was negligently left near a military base.

Three days ago, twelve-year-old Yusuf Akin was seriously injured in an explosion near a Turkish military post near the village of Çobanpınar (Wargenim) in the Gever (Yüksekova) district of Hakkari. The boy was first admitted to the state hospital in the district and later returned home.

As it has meanwhile turned out, a road is being built on the military site. The earth removed for this purpose has been transported to an area where the villagers milk their farm animals. After the explosion, which injured Yusuf Akin, soldiers searched the area and found three more bombs ready to explode.

The villagers must now get permission from the military if they want to graze or milk their sheep in the area.

Meanwhile, Yusuf Akin has been visited by the board of the HDP Gever district association.
