Dostkî: It is a national duty to support Öcalan’s call

Kîvî Dostkî emphasized that the process initiated by Abdullah Öcalan in consultation with all Kurdish parties is historic and that it is a national duty for all parties in Bashûr (South Kurdistan) to support this call.

Speaking to ANF, political activist Kîvî Dostkî from Bashûr (South Kurdistan) said that Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan’s call for “Peace and Democratic Society” has created great hope among all Kurds. Noting that the success of this historic process is a common desire for Kurds, Dostkî said that the most valuable aspect of the process was the talks with all Kurdish parties and political structures in other parts (of Kurdistan) before the call was made.

“The DEM Party Imrali delegation met with all Kurdistan parties in Bashûr. Rojava was also included in this process. This is a very important development for the unity of the Kurdish people. Therefore, the responsibility lies with all of them," he said.

Dostkî stated that the support given by Kurdish parties before and after Öcalan’s call could form the infrastructure for Kurdish unity.

Pointing out that PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) President Bafel Jalal Talabani, KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) President Massoud Barzani and all political actors have a great historical task on their shoulders, Dostki said: “It is both a national and historical responsibility for them to support the process initiated by Mr. Öcalan. This support can create the infrastructure for Kurdish unity. As a people, we should push the party leaders to this unity. South Kurdistan is almost seen as an independent state in the international arena. Therefore, the responsibility of the political structures in Bashûr is even greater. All parties in Bashûr should provide moral and material support to this process. This is not gratitude, but their national duty.”
