Attacks by police have left a visually handicapped and mentally disabled child wounded in Nusaybin district of Mardin.

Following the declaration of a curfew in the district, a large number of police teams have attempted to enter the neighborhoods where self-rule has been declared recently. Facing resistance from the local people, police teams opened random fire on inhabitants of the Fırat neighborhood from armored vehicles.

The fire has left 16-year-old disabled minor by the name of Mehmet Ermez heavily wounded as he sat outside his house. Upon a denial of access to hospital by police, the locals try to treat him in a house in the neighborhood.

As the resistance of the locals continues, an armored vehicle has been destroyed as a result of an action against the police teams trying to enter the neighborhood. Casualties among the police have been reported from the scene.

Police siege across the district remains, mainly intensified in the neighborhoods of Abdulkadirpaşa, Yenişehir and Kışla where power has been cut off, in addition to the suspension of internet services in some areas.

In the meantime, a delegation of HDP deputies and DBP executives has once again been hindered by security forces at the entrance of the district.
