Demirtaş: Cizre stands strong

HDP co-chair Demirtaş called on the AKP saying “The best you had in JİTEM have come and gone, but the people are still here and they are standing strong”, in protest to the state keeping them from attending the final Newroz activities in Cizre.

The delegation leaving Amed for Cizre to attend the final Newroz activities planned for today were stopped in Basiprîn village, 20 kilometers away from Şırnak’s İdil district.

The delegation that includes DBP Co-chair Kamuran Yüksek, HDP Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, DTK Co-chairs Hatip Dicle and Selma Irmak, HDK Co-spokespersons Gülistan Koçyiğit and Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk, members of KJA Coordination and HDP MP’s were not allowed to continue on to Cizre.

“THEY WANT TO HIDE THE MASSACRE”

HDP co-chair Demirtaş said that the state was trying to hide the massacres with these methods and that the government was making life hell. Demirtaş stated: “It was possible to live in peace as brothers and sisters, but they have made life hell by trying to intimidate the people in a fascistic approach. Each one of us is trying to turn these lands into a paradise for all, while administrators like these are terrorizing it.” and continued:

“We are in solidarity in Cizre, Silopi, Hezex, Nusaybin. Our MP’s have been here for days. We are grateful for the DBP municipalities in their support. We are all working hard to get these places up on their feet again. The people are showing great fervor.

“They may have stopped our visit today, but I wonder how long they can keep us from coming together with the people of Botan, how far can they go? We are the host, they are the guest here. This land has seen many administrations, many ministers. The best you had in JİTEM have come and gone, but the people are still here and they are standing strong. We will continue this struggle side by side with our people.”
