DEM Party holds 2nd local congress in Amed

The 2nd Local Congress of the DEM Party was held in Diyarbakir (Amed) with the participation of thousands of people.

The Amed Provincial Organization of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) held its 2nd ordinary congress in a hall in Peyas (Kayapınar). Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Keskin Bayındır and DEM Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan, as well as representatives of Kurdish civil organizations in the city, attended the congress with the slogan “A Free Future with an organized society."

Keskin Bayındır said: "They want to rewrite the fate of the Middle East and Kurdistan. However, hegemons and capitalist states have never solved the problems of society in the Middle East. We know that the key to the solution in the Middle East lies in the path of Abdullah Öcalan. The Kurdish question can only be solved through democratic means. The whole world could not find a solution for the people of the Middle East for 100 years. Only Abdullah Öcalan found a solution."

Bayındır said: "There has been nothing but death, plunder and massacre in the Middle East for 100 years. Abdullah Öcalan proposed Democratic Confederalism for Palestine. He said, 'Israel and Palestine can produce a solution here together.' The solution for the Kurdistan question is Democratic Autonomy."

Stating that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been kept in severe isolation for 25 years, Bayındır said: "Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is fighting for peace. Despite this, he continues to be kept under heavy isolation. Mr. Öcalan's stance is related to the Kurdish question and to the status of Kurdistan. If we ensure the status of Kurdistan, we will break isolation. Breaking isolation is not only a problem for the Kurdish people, but also for all those who want peace and freedom in Turkey. For this, let's join hands and break isolation together. Let’s liberate Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and solve the Kurdish question. Let's make Kurdistan have a status."

The congress, attended by thousands of people, began after a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy.
