Curfew amidst ongoing attacks in Amed's Sur district

Special operation teams that had blockaded Amed's Sur district yesterday attacked the neighborhoods of Fatihpaşa and Hasırlı with heavy weapons at 04:00 last night.

While youths who responded to the attack with self-defense were also supported by residents, police banned entrance to the district and threatened people to not go out despite there being no curfew declared.

Turkish state forces deliberately targeted and attacked reporters for JINHA (Women's News Agency) and DIHA (Dicle News Agency).

HDP deputies Ziya Pir and Çağlar Demirel, DBP Amed co-chair Ali Şimşek were also insulted by police and threatened by opening fire into the air. A policeman battered HDP MP Ziya Pir and threatened the delegation of Kurdish politicians and reporters, saying; “Two colleagues of ours have been martyred. We will not allow you enter this area.”

On the other hand, a rocket attack against an armored police vehicle left two policemen dead and three others wounded in Hasırlı neighborhood of Sur district late last night.

Early this morning, Governor of Diyarbakır imposed a curfew on the district which went into effect as of 09:30 today and will last 'until a further notice' for the 'security of people's life and property'.
