The area of Geliyê Doski, which is located between Gever (Yüksekova) district of Hakkari and Oramar region, is witnessing an intense clashes between guerrillas and Turkish soldiers, and losses on the side of the latter one.
Turkish army's efforts to advance towards the Oramar area leads up to major clashes in Geliyê Doski area.
The area of Geliyê Doski, which is located between Gever (Yüksekova) district of Hakkari and Oramar region, is witnessing an intense clashes between guerrillas and Turkish soldiers, and losses on the side of the latter.
FIVE SOLDIERS KILLED IN ACTIONS BY GUERRILLAS
Clashes in the area continue for three uninterrupted days, and lasted from early morning till 19:00 in the evening yesterday. The area is being targeted by howitzer and mortar attacks as part of the military operation started by Turkish army in line with a plan to make advances towards Oramar region, as well as bombardments by Cobra type helicopters and jets of the Turkish army. Turkish troops attempted four times to enter the area with armored vehicles, to which guerrillas affiliated to HPG (People's Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) responded with actions.
While 5 soldiers were killed in actions conducted by guerrillas against the hills and guard posts in the region, clashes have also left casualties on the side of the Turkish army, but casualties couldn't be verified. As clashes are reported to be going on, soldiers have failed to make further advances.
In response to Turkish army's attempts to enter the area, guerrillas carried out actions against the guard posts and hills in the region. Besides an action with heavy weapons against Hill Zevîsorê in Mêrgezerê area, guerrillas also hit the hills of Remo and Çalareşkê yesterday.
Three soldiers were killed and one other was heavily wounded in the action by guerrillas targeting the Zevîsorê guard post. The action against hill Çelareşkê on the other hand left two soldiers dead, while the results of the action against Hill Remo couldn't be made clear.
CLASHES AREA HEAVILY BOMBARDED BY TURKISH FORCES
Geliyê Doski area, where clashes are going on, is also being shelled intensely with mortar and howitzers. As part of the operation which is also being supported by a number of drones and Cobra type helicopters, Turkish troops are trying to reach the Oramar area where roads have been taken under control by guerrillas.
While HPG officials also confirmed the ongoing clashes in the area, HPG is expected to release a detailed statement later on.
