Clashes between guerrillas and Turkish army continue in Heftanin

Guerrillas continue inflicting blows on the Turkish army in Kurdistan territory.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information on the latest guerrilla actions that targeted the Turkish army in Heftanin region of Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).

According to the statement, the Turkish army shelled the area of Şeşdara in Heftanin region at 10 am on July 23. Following the bombardment, Turkish troops set fire to the area and mobilized in the region.

HPG said that heavy fighting erupted between guerrillas and the Turkish forces operating in this area. One soldier and one member of counter-guerrilla forces were killed during the fighting, while a female guerrilla by the name of Zelal Çiğdem, who had been leading the resistance since the first day of Turkish occupation operation in Heftanin, fell a martyr.

On the other hand, three guerrillas were martyred as a result of airstrikes that targeted the area of Hill Dupişk at 13:00 on July 10.

HPG reported that Turkish fighter jets bombed the area of Şehid Rüstem in Zap region of Medya Defense Zones at 10:15 on July 23. The fire started by the bombardment continues to rage, the statement added.
